Horse and Hound Gastropub Closes
Local restaurant unable to recover from flood damage
Charlottesville, VA: The Horse and Hound Gastropub this week announced the permanent closure of their restaurant at 625 West Main Street in Charlottesville.
As many people know, on August 4 we sustained major flooding damage inside the restaurant due to no fault of our own. We were committed to re-opening our doors as quickly as possible after the severe water damage that the building sustained. Unfortunately, circumstances have prevented us from doing so.
A number of issues conspired to prevent the restaurant from recovering in a timely manner. As much as we tried, we could not resolve the issues that prevented us from re-opening. We were looking at a serious loss of income as the busy fall season approached and tens of thousands of dollars in repairs to be done. We had eight great years in Charlottesville and would like to thank the customers that were so good to us during our successful run. Luther and I feel so lucky to have spent this time in Charlottesville. We learned and grew as people and as business owners during this amazing time, and we will always be grateful for the experiences we have had here and for the people we have met.
At this time we do not have any plans to relocate our restaurant or start any new projects in Charlottesville. We do however plan on honoring our catering commitments that are already scheduled.
Luther and I are looking forward to spending more family time with our amazing son and taking some much needed time off.
